With all the different brands and models of printers out there, it can be difficult to make the right decision. I always base my selections in terms of what I need. The Kodak ESP 7250 color inkjet multifunction printer was my choice after considering its price. It suited my requirements for basic home use for the whole family. The main thing I looked at was the affordable ink refills price for my heavy use for various projects.

Kodak ESP 7250The ESP 7250 is very user friendly. It has no complicated functions and I did not even have to peek at the manual to have the setup explained. The 3 way option to connect it with either a USB, Wi-Fi or Ethernet makes it really convenient, all I had to do was install the driver with just a few clicks and I was ready to go. Kodak is known for being a pioneer in the field of photo printing so it comes as no surprise that its photo enhancement features are a welcome bonus. It produces vivid images stunning in their clarity.

Kodak’s ESP 7250 has a practical and user friendly panel. Photos and icons are displayed in its 2.4 inch colored LCD that has a 4-way button for easy navigation. The printer has a photo tray that can handle 40 sheets. This can ride on the main tray making it really handy. It also has an automatic duplexer so one can save on paper by back to back printing on regular paper. The pick flick application exclusive only to Kodak is a pleasant add-on which can be downloaded online. This allows you to print photographs from an iTouch or an iPhone.

Kodak ESP7250 PrinterWith all the fun ways to use it, there are still some drawbacks. The ESP 7250 does not have an automatic document feeder for a letter sized flatbed scanner and the paper tray has a maximum paper capacity of only 100 sheets. It is comparatively slow compared to other mid range MFPs and in terms of text speed, it did not meet my expectations with only just a little over 4 pages per minute from a personal computer and even slower when using a Mac.

The print output was a lighter shade of black, more like dark gray. However, when using Kodak’s own special photo paper, the quality of the print is good. Its photo print speed is average at 1.8 pages per minute. I would not advice using plain paper though because it would just produce grainy and faded images. When I tried using the ESP 7250’s scan feature with a Mac, it would produce acceptable black and white scans. However, colored scans came out looking uneven and the color was not as vivid.

Considering all its functions and my requirements for home use, its affordable ink cartridges, photo paper tray and quality photo printing makes Kodak ESP 7250 ideal for folks like me who want great printing quality at a reasonable price.
